I thought today would be the perfect day to blog about how I met my husband. Today we celebrate 13 years of togetherness. I met Jonathan my Junior year of High School at Evangelical Christian School in Fort Myers, Florida in 2006. He was a Senior and we only had one class together. Unfortunately we didn’t really hit it off until the spring semester of that year and I was so bummed that he was graduating and go to college in TN – but, he only did 1 semester there and came back to me 😉 during my Senior year of High School.
The pictures above were both taken in the month of March but 13 years apart. One during 7th period choir – our only class together – and the other up in Nashville working on the upcoming worship record.
Our first unofficial date came about after I went up and wrote my phone number on the back of his hand in permanent marker 😂 and said to call me if he wanted to play a round of golf. Jonathan has since forgotten a lot of the little things from our early years, but he still remembers what I wore on that 1st golf outing: black pants with white pin stripes, a magenta polo shirt and a pair of saddle -style Foot Joy’s. Our 1st official date was Junior/Senior Prom and we have been together ever since and will be celebrating 8 years of marriage at the end of this month. May 29th.
I think it’s really neat that our families both moved to Southwest Florida the same year in 2004. I love how God used our love of music to help us initially meet. God knew Jonathan would not only become my husband and the father of my children, but an essential partner for serving Jesus through music. Jonathan has stood by me in some of the darkest and scariest seasons of life, and even before marriage he never gave up on me when things got tough. He is such a special man and I love him dearly and next to Jesus, Jonathan is without a doubt the greatest blessing I’ve bee given in this life. He is far from perfect and so am I, but I just have to honor him in this post for the amazing blessing that he has been to not only me, but many others too.
So Jonathan if you happen to read this …. this one’s for you babe 😉 xo.
